Our sensual/sexual nature has been condemned and shamed and separated from that which we consider spiritual. We have been taught that it is an energy to be reined in, held in check. Sex has been historically painted as something that is bad, forbidden or dirty. This concept of sexuality is analogous to a rose shaming itself for blooming – or a bird shaming itself for flying.
